So I decided to take my schedule down to 4 bar nights. My Tuesday night gig was slowing down and it was getting to the point where I know they needed to make a change. I have been pretty successful in pulling the plug first so it just made sense. They are some great people to work with and peeps to hang out with as well, I will miss it. But I like rest more and focusing my energies with Peppers North & South will be full steam ahead.
I'm over bitching about not seeing people come and support what I do. I have come to the realization that if they happen to show up when I am playing it will be a nice surprise and I will be glad to see them. I am done excepting it so there is no let down on my end. I have a core group of real people I can count on and that is all that I need.
It is good to work for a venue that supports what you do and the concept of all of it. That combination will create longevity for overall success and solid position in the marketplace. I wish I would have gotten a fraction of "status updates" for my Tuesday night as others. How do you compete with the over flooding and posting of the same event over and over again? Facebook is not the total answer to pack any place but the maintenance aspect of it promoting EVERYTHING your bar has to offer should be standard. With my rate being far below what the standard is for DJ's and bands alike, it would make sense to help make that night fly just like the others. But no one is to blame, this is just my 24 years in the bar biz coming out.
I'm hoping that I only said "bye" to a night of working and not to the cool people that I have worked with and met along the way. I will miss you guys and I hope if your travels are ever to Broad Ripple or Greenwood you will stop in at Peppers.
